Good stuff to know before arriving
Q. Covid-19 questions.
A. Sanitizing & Disinfecting
We have always followed a strict policy of cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting for the vacation homes we clean and maintain and are following CDC guidelines.
Attractions & Restaurants
At the moment all attractions and restaurants are open, but there is a mandatory mask order effective until November 30, 2020.
Q. Where are my keys for the cabin?
A. Mountain Honey has a digital door lock. We'll send you a text message the day of check-in to give you the key code. We'll also email directions to your cabin and include your door code. No need to check in at an office!
Q. Can I bring my pets?
A. Unfortunately, we don't offer accommodations for pets at this time.
Q. Where can I smoke?
A. We don't allow smoking indoors. This includes (but is not limited to) cigarettes, cigars, e-cigarettes and illicit substances. Smoking outdoors is fine, but please make sure to responsibly put out all cigarettes or other smoked items completely.
Q. When do I check in and check out?
A. Your cabin should be ready for check-in at 3:00 P.M. EST. Check-out time is 11:00 A.M. EST. We will let you know if you can check in early.
Q. What if I have to cancel my reservation?
A. For a full refund, cancel at least 14 days in advance. If you cancel between 7 days and 14 in advance, we'll refund 50% of your booking charge. If you cancel in less than 7 days before your booking, we'll refund your cleaning fee and taxes. If you want, you can also look into travel insurance just in case.
Q. Is there a rental age restriction?
A. We rent to adults 21 years old or older.
Q. Do you allow house parties?
A. No house parties. Any repairs or cleaning caused by damage from such a party will be charged to the credit card you booked with.
Q. How's cellular service reception at the cabin?
A. For the most part, it works pretty well. But as with everything, that depends on your carrier. However, we provide WiFi access at Mountain Honey Cabin, so you can use that for social media, text messages and WiFi calling.
Q. What goes into your hot tub maintenance?
A. We make sure the hot tub is completely cleaned after every guest checks out. We drain the tub and clean the filter with sanitizer after every guest's visit. We chemically treat it after cleaning and refill with fresh water. Do not sit or stand on the hot tub cover: damage will result in a $200 fee.
Q. Are your cabins private?
A. Other cabins are visible nearby, but no one's on top of one another. There's plenty of room to feel comfortably secluded!
Q. What do I need to bring?
A. We always provide a simple kit for our guests of shower soap, dishwashing soap, paper towels, toilet paper and trash bags. We also have a fully stocked kitchen with plates and eating utensils, as well as pots and pans. Mountain Honey is conveniently located near Food City - a grocery store - for anything else you might need, such as coffee filters and food. We have a washing machine in the cabin, so you can do your laundry without leaving. Make sure to bring beach towels for the hot tub, but we do provide other linens.
Q. How can I pay for the booking?
A. All major credit cards are accepted, including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. You can also pay via PayPal. We do not accept checks.
Q. How can we use the fireplace?
A. There's nothing like a warm, crackling fire after a day full of fun. Make sure to only use firewood from the grocery store, do not bring your own! Packing your own firewood carries the risk of bringing harmful tree parasites to the area, so please buy locally.
Q. Do I have to worry about pests?
A. Pest management treats the cabin once a month, so you shouldn't have any unwelcome guests. However, other insects are common in the area, including ladybugs, wasps, and bees. They belong there, but we manage their appearance in the area.
Q. Oooh, bears! Can we pet them?
A. NO! Bears are natural residents of the Smoky Mountains, but respect them and their space! Don't leave your car doors open because bears have a tendency to explore. Make sure the bear-proof trash can outside is securely shut, and definitely don't feed the bears. They're unpredictable wild animals and we don't want them to associate humans with a free meal.
Q. What do I need to do before I leave?
A. Double check the thermostat - set heat to 70 and cooling to 75. Place all used linens and towels in a pile for our staff. Clean all your dirty dishes in the dishwasher. Make sure to take all your food with you or dispose of what you don't need anymore. Close and lock all windows and doors, turn off all lights, make sure the hot tub cover is on properly, and notify us of anything in need of repair at firstname.lastname@example.org.
